Causeway Music Project
Karen Blackwood of Blackwood Music Academy has been working along side Sarah Cameron our piano and violin teacher for the past two years providing music lessons to our local asylum seekers in Falkirk.
“The music class has become a beacon of hope and source of joy for us, as we gather together to learn various musical instruments such as the piano, guitar and drums.” Taha
Our vision has always been to boost social interactions between asylum seekers and the local community, celebrate cultural diversity and improve mental wellbeing through music making and community events.
The project helps alleviate stress and anxiety, provides a creative outlet during a difficult time for the asylum seekers, increases the mens capacity with the English language and promotes integration and assimilation into Scottish society.
On the 16th of June we held our second event for the men supported by Creative Scotland, Larbert Baptist Church, Hope Community Church and The Muslim Rainbow Ladies.
World Wide Party and Dining Experience!
On the 16th of June we held a party for asylum seekers in Falkirk. The community opened their arms and everybody had a great time.
We had food provided by the Rainbow Muslim Ladies, a ceilidh, line dancing and entertainment provided by the men themselves.
The event took place in Larbert and was supported by Larbert Baptist Church, Hope Community Church, Creative Scotland and The National Lottery.
