Meet our tutors!
At Blackwood Music Academy, we are committed to providing the highest standard of music tuition. Every member of our teaching team is a skilled and dedicated musician with relevant qualifications, teaching experience, and an up-to-date PVG certificate from Disclosure Scotland.
Our tutors come from a variety of professional backgrounds, ranging from highly experienced teachers with many years of successful teaching and performance experience to talented emerging educators who have achieved at least Grade 8 in their chosen instrument. This allows us to offer high-quality tuition to suit a range of budgets without compromising on standards.
We welcome students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to advanced musicians. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe lessons for younger children, helping to support practice and progress at home.

Want to play in a band?
Adult Band Class
Our Adult Band Class is open to anyone who has left school, with no upper age limit. Whether you're returning to music after many years or looking for a new musical challenge, you'll enjoy playing alongside like-minded musicians in a friendly and supportive environment.
Rehearsals take place in Larbert on Saturdays around lunchtime.
Kids Band Class
Our Kids Band Class is designed for young musicians who already receive instrumental or vocal lessons and would like the exciting experience of playing in a band. It's a fantastic opportunity to develop ensemble skills, build confidence, make new friends, and perform at live events.
Rehearsals also take place in Larbert on Saturdays around lunchtime.
Come and See for Yourself
If you're interested in joining either group, you're very welcome to come along and watch a rehearsal before making a commitment. It's a great way to meet the group, see how rehearsals work, and experience the fun and energy of playing music together.
Working with any tutor through Blackwood Music Academy will also give you access to performing opportunities at our regular charity concerts, competitions and we often play in our local care homes Carrondale. We hold weekly rock and pop band classes for adults and kids where you can learn the art of playing as part of a band. No need to receive lessons through our tutors to join our weekly bands.
