Helen - Saxophone, Clarinet, Theory

Helen Robbie is a musicianship tutor, choir director and mum, as well as a sax and clarinet teacher. She studied music at university, with alto saxophone as my main instrument. Helen also played baritone sax & clarinet in ensembles, and sang in choirs. She currently teaches for Edinburgh Young Musicians, NYCoS, and conducts two amateur, adult choirs.

She teaches clarinet, saxophone & music theory to children and adults. Helen can also teach Nuvo specialist instruments, which can be a great option for young beginners, or those with ASN.

Helen believe that pupils learn best when they set their own goals. Students can work together with her to make sure you get what you need from lessons - play for friends & family, join a band/orchestra, perform in a talent show, write your own tunes, pass exams, or even go busking.

Working with any tutor through Blackwood Music Academy will also give you access to performing opportunities at our regular concerts, competitions and we often play in our local care home Carrondale Care Home. We hold weekly rock and pop band classes for adults and kids where you can learn the art of playing as part of a band. No need to receive lessons through our tutors to join our weekly bands.
